Role Overview

Lead and support where appropriate on the planning,delivery, and review of an individualised and holistic physical developmentprogram across the FDP & YDP (U9-U16) age groups, aligning closely with the department frameworks to aid the MDT decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the planning, delivery, and review of on-pitch, gym-based, and remote physical development support to the FDP & YDP players (U9-U16) in line with the department framework and the ‘E10 approach’.

  • Lead and assist where appropriate on the planning, delivery, and review of rehabilitation/ Return to Play processes to the FDP & YDP players in collaboration with the medical team.

  • Lead and support where appropriate on the planning, collection, analysis, and reporting of physical profiling across the academy (U9-18), including performance and growth & maturation measurement, in line with the department framework.

  • Lead on the collection, analysis, and reporting of training load monitoring, including workload, growth & maturation, and well-being across the FDP & YDP in line with the department framework.

  • Collaborate with age-group coaches to provide sport science guidance on session design/delivery to get the appropriate physical outcomes alongside the technical/tactical goals.

  • Lead on the planning and delivery of coach, parent, and player educational workshops/infographics across the academy to continuously drive best practice.

  •  Support the sport science supervision & preparation on matchdays for to the YDP & FDP age groups.

About The Candidate

Required

  • Undergraduate (BSc) degree in Sports Science/equivalent degree.

  • Experience of delivering sport science supervision to youth athletes.

  • Knowledge of key factors and considerations in long-term athletic development.

  • Hold a valid DBS.

  •  A strong, adaptable professional with excellent communication skills, a growth mindset, and the ability to build relationships, who is committed to achieving high standards.


Desired

  • Postgraduate (MSc) degree in Sport Science/equivalent degree (or working towards)

  • Hold or be working towards UKSCA/equivalent qualifications.

  • Experience of working in academy football.

  • Data analysis and visualisation/display skillset (Microsoft Excel/PowerBi).

  • Full clean driving license & access to car.

  •  Knowledge & experience of using VALD and Catapult/GPS systems.
