This is an exciting time at Newcastle United and we are looking for talented individuals to help us on our journey. To help us deliver on our ambitious plans we are looking for an Academy Safeguarding & Wellbeing Manager.
Reporting into the Head of Safeguarding & Welfare, you will ensure our established Academy Safeguarding and Wellbeing department continues to support children to reach their whole person potential by providing effective ‘off-field’ support. As a member of the Academy Management Team, you will be an ‘expert in the room’ who brings to life the Club’s Safeguarding and Wellbeing strategies by developing ‘best in class’ working practices, ensuring compliance with specific industry rules and regulations the rights of children across the Academy.
To do this, you will have expert knowledge of safeguarding legislation, holistic approaches to wellbeing and support services available to staff, children and their families. You will have experience supporting the management of a statutory support or pastoral service, management of a team of staff and involvement in evidence-based audits. An understanding of elite sport, and the demands placed upon young Athletes, would be advantageous and the ability to develop strong working relationships whilst working sensitively and confidentiality is paramount.
You will be educated to degree level in a related discipline or be able to demonstrate equivalent industry experience and you will have also successfully attended the FA Safeguarding Children workshop and FA Welfare Officer’s Workshops.
