What is the role?
We are recruiting for a qualified Academy Physiotherapist / Sports Rehabilitator / Sports Therapist to join our leading Academy Performance team. In this role, you will assist the Academy Physiotherapists in providing a first class physiotherapy & injury prevention service to Academy players in the U9 – U16 age group, working at our Category 1 status Academy, Staplewood Training Ground.
You will be responsible for organising, coordinating and implementing treatment, rehabilitation and medical screening for the U9-U16 year old Academy players, as well as health/medical education programmes for both the player and parents.
You will actively contribute in the Academy Performance Department which is viewed as a centre of excellence in injury & illness prevention, injury management and cutting edge medical and science research and development.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for an ambitious, hardworking and dedicated individual with a background in physiotherapy / sports rehabilitation / sports therapy. As minimum, you will need to be HCPC/CSP registered or equivalent for Sports Therapy/Rehabilitation. We want the successful candidate to have a passion for their own personal development. The individual will have excellent communication skills to liaise with players, parents and colleagues within the Academy and the rest of the Club in a professional manner. Having experience in elite sport is not essential but an understanding of the level of commitment and the ability to be flexible and adaptable to the demands of elite sport is required.
The successful candidate will have great organisational and time management skills in order to manage workload and maintain accurate medical records. We are looking for a candidate who can be part of an inter-disciplinary team of people, be proactive and innovative in their approach. Ideally, this individual will have experience of working within a team and be able to demonstrate skills needed to help coordinate a team of part time physiotherapists and work placement students, to deliver a high-quality provision.
Job Specifics
The role will require the person to work during some days but predominantly evenings with one day at a weekend which could be either a Saturday or Sunday.
We are open to this role being either full time or a part time job share (50/50 split) between two people:
- In a full-time role you would be expected to work all day Monday & Tuesday and another 2 afternoon/evenings in the week. You would also be expected to work one day at a weekend either Saturday or Sunday depending on work demands.
- If in a part time capacity as part of a job share, the roles would comprise of 2 late afternoons into evenings from Tuesday to Friday (2/3-8:30pm) and a day at the weekend.
The competencies which are required include:
Essential Qualifications (including certifications):
- Degree in Physiotherapy / Sports Therapy / Sports Rehabilitation
- HCPC registered or equivalent.
- CSP / Sport Therapy Membership / BASRAT registered or equivalent
Desirable Qualifications (including certifications):
- Up to date first aid and pitch side trauma certificate (ITTMiF / ATTMiF desirable but if not will need to be gained during the probation period).
- Sports Massage Qualification / Pilates Qualification / KC Movement Solution Trained /
Desirable Experience:
- Post graduate experience in physiotherapy or sports therapy/rehab fields.
- Experience of working in a sporting environment as a physiotherapist / sports therapist or sports rehabilitator.
- Previous experience working as a physiotherapist (F/T or P/T) in a football Academy setting.
- Previous experience managing staff or teaching students
- Experience in working in an interdisciplinary sports science and medical team.
Essential Skills:
- Knowledge of paediatric anatomy & physiology and pathologies.
- Understanding of fundamental MSK assessments and clinical reasoning of differential diagnoses
- Knowledge of manual therapy skills.
- Knowledge of sports rehabilitation themes and principles
- Knowledge of injury prevention methods and recovery strategies.
- Experience in managing patient lists.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- IT literate – can use Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- The ability to build good working relationships and work well wihtin a team environment.
- Driven and energetic – demonstrates enthusiasm and is personally committed to achieving objectives set.
- Receptive to feedback about own behaviour, strengths and areas for improvement.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of movement dysfunction analysis and experience in undertaking athletic performance screening.
