Gillingham FC is seeking a part-time therapist to cover match days for the Youth Development and Foundation phases of our academy.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide pitch-side first aid and acute injury management of Foundation and Youth Phase Academy players on match days.
- Complete emergency medical checks prior to matches and report any issues to the Head of Sports Science & Medicine or Academy Manager immediately.
- Record all match day injuries and treatment delivered utilising PMA. Report all significant injuries to the Head of Academy
- Sports Science & Medicine in accordance with Gillingham Football Club Academy policy.
- Refer injured players for additional assessment/treatment (e.g. A&E, GP, club doctor) as appropriate.
- Complete clear and concise SOAP notes for each assessment and treatment in accordance with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy/other governing body.
- Provide reports to the Head of Academy Sports Science & Medicine and relevant coaches on the player’s ongoing treatment and rehabilitation and estimated return to play date.
- To work within and uphold all academy policies and best practise guidelines including safeguarding, health and safety, recruitment, equality and codes of conduct.
- Maintain qualifications to the minimum standard as required by the FA regulations: FA EMFAIF or ITMMIF; FA Safeguarding Children Certificate; FA DBS check & all CPD as indicated by the CSP and HCPC Regulations.
Competencies
- Must be able to commit to Saturdays and Sundays at home and away games (Canterbury training venue and local opposition in Southeast England).
- Willingness to work unsociable hours (weekends).
- Ability to build and maintain local relationships.
- Be able to work as part of a team and independently.
- Competent with Microsoft Office Package.
- Dedication to self-improvement and personal development.
Requirements:
- BSc/MSc Physiotherapy/Sports Therapy/Sports Rehabilitation.
- HCPC/BASRaT/Society of Sports Therapists registration.
- An excellent understanding of acute injury management and physiotherapy in sport.
- Minimum FA Level 3 Emergency Medical First Aid in Football (EMFAIF).
- Full UK driving license.
Desirable
- FA Intermediate Trauma and Medical Management in Football (ITMMIF).The club can support the attainment of this course for the right candidate.
- FA Safeguarding Certification.
- FA Concussion and Sudden Cardiac Arrest certificates
- Experience working within elite sport - preferably football.
