An exciting full-time opportunity has arisen within the Peterborough United FC Academy to lead the Sports Science and Medicine Department working closely with the first team Head of Performance Medicine and having a particular focus on the club’s u21 team.

Working within a well-respected Category 2 academy, the chosen applicant will work alongside other full-time members of staff to provide excellent evidence-based care to the footballers, as well as line-managing the Sports Science and Medicine department within our academy.

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing pitch side cover for U21’s training and games when required.

This role is for an experienced qualified physiotherapist looking to further their career in professional football and leadership within sport. The successful applicant will also receive CPD as part of their role.

Key Tasks

  • To Manage the Academy Sports Science & Medical Department

  • Manage and deliver the Sports Science and Medicine/Performance Support Programme for all Academy players registered with the Club

  • Liaise and work alongside the Head of Performance Medicine to ensure alignment with the First Team

  • Provide pitchside and clinical cover for the Professional Development Phase with a focus on the u21s team


Requirements of the role:

  • BSc Physiotherapy

  • HCPC Registered

  • Pitch side trauma certificate (e.g. ATMMiF)

  • Demonstrable clinical experience

  • Excellent understanding of ways to improve the physical profile of an athlete, along with the physical demands of Football

  • Experience of leading within a multidisciplinary team in elite professional sport
