Roles and Responsibilities·           To develop the goalkeepers within the U9-U18 squads and to oversee their technical, tactical, physical and mental development

·           Provide a high standard of coaching to respective age groups, educating them in line with the Swansea City Academy philosophy and methodology

·           To ensure that all Academy players adhere to the Swansea City Academy Values and show a high level of respect and discipline.

·           To adhere to the Coaches Code of Conduct.

·           To assist players to set individual short and long-term goals and to create Individual Action Plans

·           To maintain all coaching and games program records on the PMA for each session throughout the season.

·           To complete player progress reports on the PMA

·           To develop and maintain a professional relationship with the parents/guardians of the Players

·           Complete CPD (Continuous Professional Development) to maintain coaching qualifications.

·           To work with Head of Coaching in the completion of a Coach Development Plan in line with the Swansea City Coach Competency Framework

·           To maintain FA/FAW Licensed Coaches Club membership criteria

·           To identify players available for games and communicate any additional player requirements to the Lead Phase Coach at the earliest opportunity.

·           To take responsibility for the care and maintenance of all age group training equipment and playing kit.

·           To attend the 6 weekly coaches’ meetings as instructed by the Academy Manager/Head of Academy Coaching.

·           To plan, prepare and deliver the 6-week Individual Player Review Meetings, supported by the Academy Multi- Disciplinary Team, setting new targets for the players across the four areas.

·           To assess trialists at both training and games and feedback to the Lead Phase Coach / Head of Academy Recruitment.

·           To attend tournaments and trips when requested by the club.

·         Make suggestions to improve the working environment and contribute to positive employee relations within your area of work and Swansea City Football Club as a whole.

·         To comply with all aspects of the Swansea City Football Club Health and Safety Policy and Arrangements, to enable the Company to perform its civil and statutory obligations in relation to Health & Safety

·         Ensure effective communication within your work team and across Swansea City whilst actively offering support and guidance, as necessary.
Person Specification
Essential

  • UEFA ‘B’ License Coaching Certificate (Outfield and Goalkeeping)

  • FA Learning Safeguarding Children Certificate FA Emergency Aid in Football Certificate

  • Ability to plan, deliver, develop, and monitor football coaching sessions

  • Basic level of IT skills

  • A good level of communication and interpersonal skills

  • A flexible attitude to work

  • Possess the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

  • Has the ability to remain polite and courteous in difficult situations

  • Can demonstrate good planning, preparation, and delivery skills

  • Able to meet stringent deadlines

  • Be versatile enough to adapt to changing situations

  • Ability to effectively manage player, parent and staff relationships

  • Ability to liaise with footballers, coaches, management and other football related individuals in a professional manner

  • Flexible approach to work and working hours and be prepared to work evenings and weekends

  • Enthusiastic and passionate about football and youth development

Desirable

  • FA Advanced Youth Award

  • Previous experience of working with Young players in an elite environment

  • Previous experience of working within a professional Academy
