Job Title: Academy Football Coach


Location: Yeovil Town Football Club


Hours: Part-Time


Reporting To: Academy Manager


Salary: Session & Match day rates, based on experience and qualifications


Job Overview:


Yeovil Town Football Club is seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and dedicated Part-Time Academy Football Coach to work within its established youth academy. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of young players, helping them to reach their potential and progress through the academy system. This role is ideal for individuals who are committed to player development, have a deep understanding of football, and possess excellent coaching and communication skills.


Key Responsibilities:


 • Coaching and Development:


Plan, deliver, and review training sessions in accordance with the Academy’s coaching curriculum, focusing on the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological development of young players. Sessions should be designed to improve individual and team performance in line with the club’s footballing philosophy.


 • Player Development:


Monitor and assess the progress of academy players through regular performance analysis and feedback. Identify areas for improvement and create individual development plans for players to support their growth and progression, in line with the clubs syllabus & player profiling system.


 • Matchday Responsibilities:


Manage and coach an academy squad during matches, ensuring that the club’s playing style and tactical approaches are adhered to. Provide constructive feedback and tactical guidance to players throughout the match & complete a post match form for the club management. 


 • Safeguarding and Welfare:


Ensure the safety and well-being of all academy players, adhering to the club’s safeguarding policies and promoting a positive and inclusive environment.


 • Administrative Duties:


Maintain accurate records of training sessions, match reports, and player development. Collaborate with other academy staff to ensure the smooth operation of the academy, including attending regular meetings with the coaching team and player development staff.


 • Continuous Professional Development:


Engage in regular coaching courses and continuous professional development opportunities to enhance coaching knowledge and skills. Keep up-to-date with modern football coaching methodologies and trends. Attending all in house coaching CPD events is essential & non-negotiable. 


 • Communication:


Liaise with other academy staff to ensure clear communication regarding training, matches, and player development. Provide regular progress reports to the Head of Academy Coaching. No direct contact with parents as we have a clear focus & strategy meaning your full energy and time is given to the players sufficiently over the course of the season to maximise development. 


Essential Qualifications and Experience:


 • Minimum UEFA B License or working towards it (UEFA A License is d


esirable)


 • FA Youth Modules (completed or in progress)


 • Previous experience coaching young players within a professional or semi-professional football club or academy setting


 • Valid Enhanced DBS Check


 • Up-to-date Safeguarding Children and Emergency First Aid certificates


Skills and Attributes:


 • Strong understanding of player development, especially within an academy 


structure


 • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


 • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with other coaches, staff, and parents


 • Passionate about football and player development with a strong desire to help young players succeed


 • Ability to provide constructive feedback and foster a positive learning environment


 • Flexible and able to commit to working evenings, weekends, and matchdays

 • Experience coaching in a Category 3 or 4 Academy under the Elite Player Performance Pl
