An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate to join the 1st team medical department at Oxford United Football Club. Oxford United are looking to appoint a 1st team physiotherapist to assist the existing members of the medical team.
Reporting directly to the Head of Medical Services (HoMS), the successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of the treatment room, pitch and gym-based care of 1st team squad players. They will work within an extensive multi-disciplinary team with a focus on treatment and rehabilitation of first team players. The successful candidate will also play a key role in enhancing player performance, reduce injury risk and minimise recovery periods.
We are looking for a candidate ideally with previous working experience in football, however, this would not exclude candidates should they have strong clinical skills and previous experience in other sporting performance settings. The successful candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders inclusive of players, colleagues, and senior management staff.
Essential qualifications:
- BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy or MSc (Pre-reg) Physiotherapy
- Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
- Registered with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC)
- A valid Advanced Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF) or equivalent sports trauma qualification.
- At least 2 years experience working in high performance sport.
- UK Driving License
Desirable qualifications:
- MSc (Hons) in related field
- Post graduate experience of working within a 1st team football environment.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to quickly build trusting relationships, whilst having the ability to educate, advise and motivate individuals.
- Sound knowledge of manual therapy skills and injury rehabilitation skills and processes.
- Sound knowledge of injury prevention methods and recovery strategies.
- Experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Excellent IT skills

Summary of the key job roles and responsibilities:
- The daily assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of players across the 1st team squad as required and advised by HoMS
- To provide pitch side medical cover at training sessions throughout the season for first team squad as required and advised by HoMS.
- Support the HoMS with providing medical care at 1st team games, inclusive of pre, during and post-game care.
- To lead in all medical care including management of department on match days and training days when HoMS is otherwise unavailable.
- To attend external player medical appointments, as and when directed by HoMS.
- To provide the day-to-day link between 1st team and academy medical department.
- Completion of medical notes in line with HCPC/CSP standards for all players under your care.
- To maintain adequate qualifications to enable completion of job role and ensure adequate CPD to ensure best quality practice and in line with CSP guidelines.
- To take a lead role in communicating with OUFC 1st team players out on loan as directed by the HoMS.
- Assisting in the pre-medical screening process of new 1st team player as directed by HoMS
