Youth Career

Spent six years at Carlisle United before moving to Manchester United in 2013. Received his first call-up to a senior Manchester United game, named on the bench during a 3–0 FA Cup victory at Shrewsbury Town.

Stockport County (loan)

Joined National League North club Stockport County on an initial one-month loan in January 2016. Returned to Stockport County on loan in March 2016. Played a total of 9 games before returning to Manchester United.

Grimsby Town (loan)

Joined Grimsby on a six-month loan deal in August 2016. Made his debut in December 2016, in a 2–0 victory over Accrington Stanley. Extended his loan until the end of January 2016. Recalled from the loan spell in February 2017, due to an injury to goalkeeper Joel Castro Pereira.

Manchester United

Was named on the bench for the FA Cup match against Blackburn Rovers in February 2017.

Shrewsbury Town (loan)

Sheffield United (loan)

Signed a new contract in June 2018, keeping him with Manchester United until 2020. Joined Sheffield United on a season-long loan the next day. Made his debut on the first day of the 2018-19 season against Swansea. Won promotion to the Premier League as Sheffield United finished 2nd. Named Sheffield United's Young Player of the Year Award won the Sky Bet Championship Golden Glove. Signed a new contract with Manchester United in July 2019, which will keep him at the club until June 2022, with the option to extend for a further year and returned to Sheffield United on loan for the 2019-20 season. Made his Premier League debut in the first game of the 2019-20 season against Bournemouth.

International

Called up to the England Under-20 squad for the 2017 Under-20 World Cup. Won the 2017 Under-20 World Cup. Called up for England Under-21's for the first time in September 2017 to face Scotland & Andorra. Made his Under-21 debut in March 2018 against Romania. Called up to the senior England squad for the first time as a replacement for the injured Tom Heaton in October 2019.
