Non-league transfers news: Kidderminster and Maidstone make League One loan additions

National League North club Kidderminster Harriers and National League South Club Maidstone United have added to their squads this week, both have utilised the loan market to bring in players from League One.

Kidderminster have taken Cheltenham Town midfielder Elliot Bonds on loan until December 4th and Maidstone have signed Charlton Athletic forward Hady Ghandour on a one-month loan.

Crucial game time for Cheltenham man

Bonds, is highly thought of at Cheltenham. He made five appearances for the Robins last season whilst on loan from Hull City and made a permanent move to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium this summer. He has played three cup games so far this season but is yet to feature in League One.

Bonds suffered from a long-term knee injury last season so the loan to Kidderminster provides a much needed opportunity for the 21-year-old to get consistent minutes under his belt.

Harriers boss and ex-Cheltenham midfielder Russ Penn told the club’s official website:

“Elliot has been training with us for a short while and is already a good fit.”

“He’s going to bring competition to the squad at an important time. He wants to come here, make a difference and help us get results, so it’s a win-win”.

Bonds is expected to make his Harriers debut on Saturday when they host Bradford Park Avenue. Kidderminster are 11th in the table, two points off the play-off places, while Park Avenue are just a point above the relegation zone.

Bonds, a Guyana international, is raring to go with the Harriers.

“I’ve been in two days and enjoyed every minute.” Bonds said in his first interview with the club.

“You can tell straight away the culture and the ethos of the club is really good and you can see it in every one of the boys.

“It has been a really good two days and I can’t wait to get started properly.”

Maidstone move for Lebanon international

Ghandour arrives on a one-month loan from Charlton whom he joined in summer 2020 from Tooting and Mitcham, the same non-league club that aided the development of Jamaica international Michail Antonio.

The 21-year-old has played three times in total for Charlton’s first team, including one appearance in the EFL Cup this season and he has two goals in two U23 games so far this term.

He earned his first senior cap for Lebanon last month, coming on for the final six minutes of their World Cup Qualifying defeat against South Korea.

“I’ve known about Hady since his days at Tooting and at that time it was only a matter of when, not if, he’d get picked up by a league club.” Stones boss Hakan Hayrettin told Maidstone’s official website.

“He’s had a good year at Charlton but is at that stage where he needs to test himself in the men’s game. We’re delighted to give him that opportunity and he’s keen to make the most of it for him and for us.”
