Job Description

Role summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Portsmouth Football Club as we are seeking to recruit an innovative, honest and passionate youth development phase (U12-U16) coach for our academy programme.

As an academy coach, you will be responsible for coaching sessions across the youth development phase, providing the necessary game understanding and cover, whilst delivering in line with the coaching curriculum, vision and values of the academy and the club as a whole. You’ll additionally be required to carry out administrative tasks for the covering age group, alongside providing player performance feedback on an adhoc / requested basis (PMA / Hudl / Player reviews)

Requirements of the role

  • The role will require you to travel to a variety of venues in and around the city of Portsmouth, in addition to away venues within our matchday programme.

  • Experience of working in a coaching capacity in a professional football environment and with young adolescents (U12-U16) is desirable.

  • The successful candidate will be required to carry out administrative tasks throughout the season on the PMA platform (induction will be provided) to support player development and meet EPPP requirements.

  • Right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS check is essential.

  • Experience in providing player performance feedback is desirable.

Required Qualifications

The appointed coach must have the:

  • UEFA ‘B’ Licence

  • FA Youth Award

  • FA Safeguarding certificate

  • Relatable First Aid in Sport certificate (EFAiF)

Desirable qualifications and experience:

  • FA Advanced Youth Award (Youth Development Phase)

  • Working towards UEFA ‘A’ Licence

  • Relatable degree qualification

  • Previous use of PMA platform

Guidance to consider

Please consider the below before applying:

  • Due to the requirements and the commitment the roles require, it is advisable that candidates live within commutable distance to the city of Portsmouth.

  • Our youth development phase train three times per week with regular matchday fixtures – Monday/Wednesday/Friday evenings and Sunday mornings (availability for these nights are essential)

  • Candidates should have regular access to a vehicle and a valid drivers licence.
