What We're Looking For:

We're looking for a strong Strategy & Planning Manager with drive and initiative to support the Head of Youth Recruitment with the management of processes, information and data that optimises the scouting and recruitment of high potential talent to Chelsea FC.

The post holder will be the central hub for all intelligence and processes ensuring information flows throughout the scouting team

Brief description and duties:

  • Be part of the management and decision-making group that drives short and long- term priorities, designs and delivers a strategic scouting plan to meet these goals.

  • Work very closely with Academy staff and external partners that enable the recruitment management team to support holistic, highly informed and evidence based decisions

  • Provide detailed reports to management that support excellence in decision making

  • Producing a variety of data reports from the curated data systems for the Head of Youth Recruitment including scout compliance, data quality, and activity headlines.

  • Be proactive in producing Executive Summaries for key targeted players to respond to market opportunity

  • Lead on the development of an annual tournament calendar that gives advance oversight of all tournament opportunities and plans resource coverage accordingly

  • Anticipate and provide support relating any other projects to ensure maximum responsiveness to the demands of the market


Must Haves/qualified by demonstrable experience to the level required:

  • Must be highly numerate and comfortable interacting with objective and subjective data and have experience translating this into actions.

  • Have previously worked across a diverse group of stakeholders – experience delivering on guidance from senior management and leading a team of staff.

  • Experience using high level presentation skills, both verbal and written, to communicate information and data to support critical decision making

  • Confident in using different systems and developing processes.


Nice to Haves:

  • Experience of an elite performance environment with particular understanding of dealing with high performing teams and individuals

  • Experience working in football

  • Proven ability to work in an integrated way within interdisciplinary teams


Measures of Performance (Here to Win):

  • The recruitment strategy is effectively supported by the design and delivery of the scouting strategy.

  • The scouting strategy is executed effectively.

  • Maintain effective communication with both the scouting teams and Management Group.

  • Compliance with all regulations and club policies.

  • The scouting database is accurately populated and kept up to date.
