Job Role

To be part of SCL’s coaching department, responsible for the delivery of the coaching programme that maximizes the opportunities for young players to reach their full potential in line with SCL Education’s vision and philosophy.

To develop players technically, tactically, physically and psycho-socially.

To work in partnership with SCL teaching staff to promote and encourage success within the classroom as well as on the pitch.

KEY RESPONSBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • To provide a high standard of coaching at all times

  • To ensure that all learners/players show a high level of respect and discipline.

  • To plan, deliver and reflect upon all training sessions towards individual player and team development. Feedback on their sporting capabilities as well as their professional behaviours and attitudes towards their sport, education programme and out of education activities

  • Support the pre-matchday preparation sessions alongside the Head of Academy to maximise performance and results.

  • Support on the matchday coaching provision.

  • Support the post-match recovery sessions, to minimise risk of injury for all players

  • Complete CPD (Continuous Professional Development) to maintain coaching qualifications.

  • Ensure the Programme Criteria is met (minimum of 1 competitive game per week during season). This includes contributing to the organisation of all ECFA, local college & school fixtures in regards to confirmation of venue, communication with opponents and officials

  • Ensure strong links and partnerships are formed with a variety of different organisations, this includes relationships with professional clubs, local higher & further educational establishments, local colleges and sixth forms. This would also involve supporting the SCL Main Aim Tutor with Learner Recruitment

  • Liaise with SCL Teacher on student athlete behavior, education attainment, attendance etc. towards the individual excelling within both education and sporting performance.

  • Maintain strong communication channels with player & families in regard to sporting performance

  • Support the Quality Assurance process ensuring sufficient session plans and schemes of work are documented whilst ensuring they are implemented to the highest quality in line with SCL standards

  • Support where required the Lead SCL Teacherwith academic programme

  • Develop strong working relationships with SCL teachers and staff to support learner performance within their education and sporting programme

  • Follow SCL policy and procedures including register marking policy, safeguarding, health and safety and learner behaviour management.

  • Demonstrate ‘Role Model’ behaviours and attitudes for all players/learners.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • UEFA B License Coaching Qualification

  • Safeguarding Certification / First Aid Certificate

  • Excellent sports coaching knowledge for professional / elite environment at U18s level

  • Excellent knowledge of football education programmes

  • Excellent practical coaching experience, preferably within professional/elite environment for U18s

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Ability to communicate/engage with U18 players

  • Full UK Driving License
