Job Description

The Purpose:

The Manchester United Media team is looking for a Content Manager to oversee the creation and production of all content for our Women’s team.

The Role:

  • This full-time permanent position is an exciting new role in our Media team, working across our digital, social and print platforms. The role will report into the Chief Content Officer.

  • The role will work in close collaboration with the Football team management and players, as well as coordinating staff from our Photography, Social Media, Editorial and Video production teams.

  • The role will include an element of planning, as you will work to bridge Football & the business to deliver against the club’s strategic priorities. The candidate will be entrepreneurial, business savvy and have great people skills as you’ll work closely with our Women’s football team and the academy.


Typical duties include:

  • Writing and editing content related to the women’s team for our website, app and matchday programme

  • Covering all United Women matches (this will involve weekend work)

  • Interviewing players and coaching staff for cross-platform content

  • Liaising with our social platforms on Women’s team content (some capture)

  • Working with our Communications team to amplify announcements and secure content approval

  • Liaising with other club departments – Partnerships, MU Foundation for example – on campaigns for our Women’s team and more the club more broadly

  • Content planning and scheduling

  • Attendance of daily/ weekly stand-up meetings to report on United Women content

  • Creating analytics reports to measure results and engagement

  • Supporting related e-commerce initiatives

  • Upkeep of club stats


The Person:

  • A passion for Women’s football and knowledge of the game is essential

  • 3 years of experience working within digital/traditional media team, ideally within sports

  • Experience in writing articles or copywriting for online or print publications, ideally within sports

  • Experience working on Social Media, either for a brand or enterprise

  • Experience working with Video, either editing or shooting

  • An understanding of cameras, shoot setups and filming equipment is preferred, but not a necessity.
