Job Description

Stoke City Football Club of the English Premier League is looking for a full time Academy Sports Psychologist to improve performance through developing and implementing our sports psychology based programmes that reflect scientific principles.

Joining our dynamic team, led by the Head of Academy Sports Science and Athletic Development, you will be required to deliver a range of individual and group sessions (theory and practical) to our academy players and parents.

The successful applicant will have the ability to work with coaches to impact the players on the pitch and will be up to date with current literature on the concept of challenge and threat. You will be a highly motivated, proactive individual who is looking to innovate, discuss ideas and opinions comfortably, and who can communicate these to a variety of people (players, coaches, and parents). You will also be expected to enhance the department and educate players on how to best prepare, train and recover like elite level athletes.

The ideal candidate will hold a minimum higher degree level, be on the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Register and have previous experience providing sports psychology services to athletes and coaches in elite level football or sport.

The ability to enhance performance is essential, as well as an extensive understanding of developing mental resilience in athletes.

The position will be offered on a full time basis with a high degree of flexibility needed to cover evening and weekend work as required.
