Glasgow Rangers Interested in Israeli Wonderkid
Rangers are interested in signing Israeli wonderkid Oscar Gloukh but they would have to match Maccabi Tel Aviv’s £8 million valuation and beat Borussia Dortmund to sign him.
Gloukh is a familiar figure to those who have seen Israel compete in the Under-19 European Championships final. He was Israel’s top scorer throughout the tournament with three goals, which included the opening goal in the final.
Gloukh may be a very exciting name, but Dortmund was already interested in him and reports claimed that European giants Dortmund and Ajax were joined by Spanish outfit Espanyol, who have already made a £4 million bid for the youngster.
Although £8 million may not sound like much, it is quite a large sum in the Scottish Premiership. Gloukh would be second in club history after Tore Andre Flo if Rangers agreed to Maccabi Tel Aviv’s demands.
To put things in perspective, the £12 million Rangers paid Flo was still the most expensive signing of Scottish football history 22 years later.
Rangers are unlikely to pursue their interests with a fee this high, but it does show that the club’s scouts recognise top talent.
